For the level of effectiveness, recording and visibility, it’s a no brainer." (Resource industry client) ## Case studies ### Planning cyclone preparations with data, not guesswork Scaffolding operation at a cyclone-prone WA resources site. 250 hrs of high-risk work avoided in a single cyclone event. Challenge: With only a few days’ notice of a cyclone, scaffold teams tend to start strip-down straight away “to be safe”. If the cyclone changes course, all of that work has to be re-erected. The site carries about 2,000 tonnes of scaffold and sees around two cyclone events a year. What EXTAG did: Every scaffold is tagged and recorded in EXTAG. A Cyclone Hours report shows how many labour hours preparation will take against the people available on site. With three days’ notice, the team could see the work would take less than two days, so preparations were scheduled to start the following day instead of immediately. The cyclone changed direction and no preparation was needed. Results: Approx. 250 hours of strip and re-erection work avoided in one event; Unnecessary high-risk work avoided; Better data availability allowed better planning, and the system paid for itself in a single event. ### Ending maintenance delays caused by overdue scaffold inspections Maintenance and scaffolding team at a WA resources site. 256 man-hours a month recovered. Challenge: Scaffold inspections were recorded on paper, with no automatic status updates. Keeping inspection status current took 64 man-hours a month, and overdue inspections stopped maintenance work going ahead, costing an average of 192 man-hours a month in lost time. What EXTAG did: Each scaffold carries an NFC Scaffold Tag (inspection record and handover certificate). Inspections are captured in the field with a scan, and inspection status updates automatically for everyone who needs it. Results: 256 man-hours a month recovered (64 hours of status admin plus 192 hours of lost maintenance time); Manual status updates and inspection-related delays eliminated; Real-time data visibility and more productive maintenance time. ### Auditable valve compliance without spreadsheets Valve maintenance and certification provider, WA resources sector. 42% faster quality control and operational tasks (~8 hours per job). Challenge: Valve work had to meet NATA and ISO/IEC 17025 requirements, at 15–20 valves a month rising to 100–150 valves during on-site maintenance events. Data was entered on paper, spread across multiple spreadsheets and handed between teams manually, and certification reports were produced by hand. What EXTAG did: Data is now captured directly in EXTAG, with forms working as job cards (for example ITPs). All data sits in one place with no spreadsheets, every team has live access 24/7, and certification and valve reports are generated automatically. Results: Real users within weeks; for this customer, in full use at the 3-month mark; 42% improvement in quality control and operational tasks (about 8 hours saved per job); Improved productivity and data visibility, ready to scale up for large maintenance events. ## EXTAG and your ERP or CMMS EXTAG works alongside an organisation's ERP or EAM to manage the assets those systems don't cover, and it can also be used as a full CMMS by organisations that want that: planned and preventive maintenance, reactive work orders, assignment to staff or contractors, scheduling, cost capture, backlog and overdue tracking, closure evidence and reporting. It does not do the ERP's finance, procurement or stores functions and does not replace the ERP. EXTAG connects to the systems an organisation uses, pushing and pulling data through their available APIs, and the EXTAG team configures the integrations. Your data is yours; export it whenever you need to. ## Service and support EXTAG is built and supported by a Perth-based team with onshore support. EXTAG configures forms, workflows and reports (minor changes often within 24 hours, larger changes in one to three weeks), tests and releases platform updates and security patches, and customers do not need a specialist admin team. ## Actions Actions work like an old-school wizard that steps you through a sequence, such as checking equipment in or out. An Action can sequence any number of steps and options to match exactly how the customer operates in the field, automatically updating all related data and forms for each piece of equipment. ## One platform Many applications cover a single use case, such as scaffolding, lifting and rigging or fire compliance, each with its own login, data and reports. EXTAG is one platform with a separate, tailored implementation for each area: each can have its own access and permissions, its own team, its own forms and workflows and its own reporting, and data can be rolled up through the asset hierarchy and Power BI where wanted. IT approves EXTAG once (one security review and vendor approval; ISO/IEC 27001 certified, hosted on AWS in Australia, sovereign hosting on request, SSO and MFA), and customers expand to new areas without approving another app. ## Scale EXTAG is used for everything from a few hundred assets to hundreds of thousands of assets, with the same app at every size: suited to large-scale asset management, enterprise asset management of the assets an ERP excludes, and high-volume asset registers. ## Across Australia EXTAG is built and supported in Perth, Western Australia, and used across Australia and internationally. It works offline for remote operations, is hosted on AWS in Australia, and sovereign hosting is available on request. ## Security and hosting The EXTAG platform is hosted on AWS in Australia, and your data stays in Australia. Sovereign hosting is available on request. EXTAG is ISO/IEC 27001 certified. Developed and supported in Perth. ## Solutions ### Inspections URL: https://www.extag.com.au/solutions/inspections.html Custom digital inspection forms, with the status of every inspection shown as colour-coded pins on a map or in detailed reports. EXTAG is perfectly suited to any inspection application. We can set up your custom forms, specifically designed for how you want to use them. We can graphically represent the status of your inspections, compliance, equipment, or anything else you need. These can be displayed as easy to read colour coded pins on a map or detailed reports. **Result:** a maintenance and scaffolding team at a WA resources site recovered 256 man-hours a month by moving scaffold inspections from paper to EXTAG, with inspection status now updated automatically. [Read the case study](/results#scaffold-inspections) **Proof of presence.** EXTAG records whether the asset's tag was scanned as part of each inspection, showing the inspector was physically at the asset. Secure NFC tags can't be easily copied, unlike a QR code that can be photographed and scanned elsewhere. [More on NFC tags](/solutions/nfc-asset-tracking). Works offline, so it suits remote sites and industrial areas: scanning and forms keep working without a signal and sync when back in coverage. Related: [scaffold inspection software](/solutions/scaffold-inspection-software) and [asset tagging](/solutions/asset-tagging). Common applications: Rounds, Compliance, Safety, QA / QC, Security patrols, Equipment, Maintenance ### Safety URL: https://www.extag.com.au/solutions/safety.html Digitise safety forms such as pre-starts, JHAs and audits, and link safety activities directly to the work they relate to. EXTAG can digitise and give you a different view on your safety culture, along with clear historical tracking. How are you currently managing your safety forms? Do you need insight into your safety compliance? Would you like to link your safety activities directly to your work activities for greater understanding? Works offline, so it suits remote sites and industrial areas: scanning and forms keep working without a signal and sync when back in coverage. Common applications: Pre-start, Job hazard analysis, Audits, Compliance ### Equipment and asset register software URL: https://www.extag.com.au/solutions/equipment-registers.html Equipment and asset register software that moves your registers out of spreadsheets into one system showing every item, its status, inspections and where it is. Still have your equipment register sitting in spreadsheets? EXTAG is equipment and asset register software that keeps every item, its status and its inspection history in one place. Still have equipment registers sitting in spreadsheets? Now is the opportunity to move them into a beautifully designed system for viewing all your equipment, keeping track of it all, and visualising where it all is. Custom reports and views can be created for all your business needs. ## Core asset register features ### Identification - NFC tags, QR codes and barcode scanning. Identify any item with a fast scan from a standard phone or tablet. - Audit and stocktake reconciliation. Scan items during an audit or stocktake and reconcile what you found against the register. ### Lifecycle and maintenance - Automated servicing reminders. Servicing falls due on schedule, with reminders before it is overdue. - Calibration. Track calibration dates and results, with reminders for the next calibration. - Hour-meter and odometer readings. Record readings on a scan, and let them trigger servicing when a threshold is reached. - Electrical test and tag. Manage test and tag cycles, with reminders when items are due for retesting. ### Custody and check-out - Check-out and check-in. Record who has an item and when it comes back, with a full assignment history. - Due-back dates and overdue alerts. Set a due-back date and get an alert when an item is overdue. - Location on each scan. Each scan can update the item's location from the device's GPS, and static assets can have their location set by dropping a pin on a map. This is last-scanned location, not live tracking. ### Compliance and auditing - Documents on the asset. Attach manuals, service certificates and other documents to each asset. - Safety checklists and incident logging. Complete safety checklists and log incidents against the asset involved. - Certificate generation. Generate certificates from completed inspections and services. - Proof of presence. Each action or form records whether the tag was scanned when the work was done, showing the person was physically at the asset. Secure NFC tags can't be easily copied, unlike a QR code that can be photographed. See [NFC asset tracking](/solutions/nfc-asset-tracking). From hundreds to hundreds of thousands of assets: EXTAG handles high-volume asset registers with the same app, whether you manage a few hundred items or hundreds of thousands. See [built for scale](/platform#scale). Related: [asset tagging](/solutions/asset-tagging), [NFC asset tracking](/solutions/nfc-asset-tracking), [lifting register software](/solutions/lifting-register-software) and [test and tag software](/solutions/test-and-tag-software). Common applications: Lifting & rigging, Scaffolding & access, Fire, Mobile equipment ### Preservation URL: https://www.extag.com.au/solutions/preservation.html Auto-schedule preservation inspections and trigger maintenance so spare equipment is ready when you need it. Discovering that your expensive spare equipment is unusable, right at the time you need it, can be catastrophic and cause significant production delays. Having a system that can auto-schedule all your inspections and trigger maintenance is critical to maintaining warranties, avoiding expensive re-ordering and, worse, production delays. With EXTAG you can relax, knowing that your equipment is preserved and issues are identified before they become costly. Works offline, so it suits remote sites and industrial areas: scanning and forms keep working without a signal and sync when back in coverage. Common applications: Inspections, Auto scheduling, Repairs, Maintenance ### Equipment management URL: https://www.extag.com.au/solutions/equipment-management.html Track every maintenance activity, inspection, change or upgrade, find available rotables fast, and see where equipment was last scanned. With EXTAG you know where your equipment is, and you can keep track of every maintenance activity, inspection, change, or upgrade. It allows instant access to discover available rotables for changeouts, and can manage all your preservation activities to ensure expensive equipment doesn't perish. EXTAG can cover all your needs and be set up to how you want to work. ## Scan to see if it is safe to use Fit-for-use status shows at the point of scan, so non-compliant equipment can be isolated immediately. Calibration, test and tag and other statutory checks have due dates against each item, and EXTAG alerts you before they expire. ## Scan to take it, scan to return it Check equipment out and back in by scan, capturing who has it, when and why. Each scan can update the location from the scanning device's GPS, so movement between locations and sites is recorded as a history (GPS tags give live location where needed), and utilisation reporting helps you find equipment that is under-used and could be redeployed. Reports depend on the data captured, and with Power BI embedded we can create any report you need. [See reporting, forecasting and compliance](/reporting). Common applications: Rotables, Preservation, Continuous improvement, Last-scanned location ### QA / QC URL: https://www.extag.com.au/solutions/qa-qc.html Digitise QA/QC checks and the process flow behind them, so tasks are done the right way every time, and you can see when they aren't. Besides digitising all your QA/QC checks, EXTAG can digitise the process flow of your activities and set specific requirements on forms to ensure tasks are done the right way every time, and show you if they aren't. With EXTAG, QA/QC runs through the whole job, not only the final check and sign-off. Certification reports can be generated automatically from the data captured in the field, including reports that support NATA-compliant work. **Result:** for one valve maintenance and certification provider, real users were on EXTAG within weeks and it was in full use at the 3-month mark. They improved quality control and operational tasks by 42%, saving about 8 hours per job. [Read the case study](/results#valve-compliance) Common applications: Inspections, Compliance, Linked actions, Work procedures ### Maintenance task tracking URL: https://www.extag.com.au/solutions/maintenance-task-tracking.html Auto-schedule hourly, monthly, distance-based or any other cyclical maintenance and see what is due now, next week or next month on a traffic-light map. Have hourly, monthly, distance based, or any other cyclical service schedules? EXTAG can auto-schedule all your cyclical maintenance activities based on any criteria you set. Then display it in our easy to read traffic light based map view, along with any other reporting view that you might wish to see. See what needs servicing now, next week or next month in one click. Works offline, so it suits remote sites and industrial areas: scanning and forms keep working without a signal and sync when back in coverage. Related: [EXTAG as your CMMS](/solutions/cmms) and [workflow management](/solutions/workflow-management). Common applications: Shutdowns, Auto scheduling, Workshop, Maintenance ### Security patrols URL: https://www.extag.com.au/solutions/security-patrols.html Tag key locations for presence-verified security rounds, with smart forms that react to what crews find and reporting on trouble hot spots. Security inspections are a perfect fit for EXTAG. You can install tags at all key locations to be scanned for presence verification, along with smart forms that dynamically change based on field activities. If something is out of the ordinary during an inspection, your forms can trigger the right actions. Reporting covers everything from daily reports to analysis of common issues and trouble hot spots. Works offline, so it suits remote sites and industrial areas: scanning and forms keep working without a signal and sync when back in coverage. Related: [inspections](/solutions/inspections) and [NFC asset tracking](/solutions/nfc-asset-tracking). Common applications: Inspections, Compliance, Linked actions, Work procedures ### Workflow management URL: https://www.extag.com.au/solutions/workflow-management.html Digitise formal client-contractor workflows (work orders, change requests and submissions) with shared documents, chat and notifications. Do you have a work process with your clients? Do you have contractors doing work for you? Invariably, communications and sending documents etc are all done via email. With EXTAG, the inter-company workflow can digitise your formal communication with other companies. EXTAG enables you to track every work order, change request or submission, whatever you need. Combined with secure shared documents, chat communications, and notifications, with EXTAG you'll always know the status of your key communications. Related: [maintenance task tracking](/solutions/maintenance-task-tracking) and [security patrols](/solutions/security-patrols). Common applications: Inter-company processes, Client-contractor communication, Workflow improvement, Workflow reporting ### Scaffold management software URL: https://www.extag.com.au/solutions/scaffolding.html Tag every scaffold with an NFC Scaffold Tag, keep inspection status current automatically, and plan cyclone preparation from real labour hours. Every scaffold carries an **NFC Scaffold Tag**, an inspection record and handover certificate in one, with a light, medium or heavy duty rating. Inspectors scan the tag to record an inspection in the field, and the scaffold's status updates automatically for everyone who needs it. Status is shown on a map as colour-coded pins (planned, erected, tagged out, dismantled), with views for inspection status, workpacks and cyclone risk. ## Results from WA resources sites - **256 man-hours a month recovered** by a maintenance and scaffolding team: manual status updates and delays caused by overdue inspections were eliminated. [Read the case study](/results#scaffold-inspections) - **250 hours of high-risk work avoided in a single cyclone event** at a cyclone-prone site carrying about 2,000 tonnes of scaffold. A Cyclone Hours report showed preparation would take less than two days, so work was scheduled instead of started immediately, and the cyclone changed direction. [Read the case study](/results#cyclone-preparedness) ## Common uses Scaffold registers and inspections, handover certificates, erect and dismantle tracking, workpack status, and cyclone preparation planning. Works offline, so it suits remote sites and industrial areas: scanning and forms keep working without a signal and sync when back in coverage. Looking for the inspection workflow in detail? See [scaffold inspection software](/solutions/scaffold-inspection-software), and how tags work in [NFC asset tracking](/solutions/nfc-asset-tracking). Common applications: NFC Scaffold Tags, Inspections, Handover, Cyclone preparation, Status map ### EXTAG as your CMMS URL: https://www.extag.com.au/solutions/cmms.html Run planned and reactive maintenance, work orders, assignment, scheduling and reporting in EXTAG, from a scan on a phone or tablet. Use it alongside your ERP, or as your CMMS. Yes, EXTAG can be your CMMS. Many organisations keep their ERP for core and critical assets and use EXTAG for everything it does not cover. Others, without a CMMS or wanting a simpler one, run their maintenance in EXTAG itself. It is the same platform either way, configured to how your people already work. ## What you get when EXTAG is your CMMS - One asset register with a hierarchy. Site, facility, building and component, with the ERP or spreadsheet reference kept on every record. - Planned and preventive maintenance. Auto-schedule hourly, monthly, distance-based or any other cyclical activity from the criteria you set. - Reactive work orders. Raise a work order from a scan. People who only need to report a problem just scan the tag and say what is wrong. - Assignment. Give work to your own people or to contractors, who scan the same tags and complete the same forms. - Closure evidence. Photos, signatures and readings are captured against the asset when the job is done. - Cost capture. Record the cost of work against the asset it belongs to. - Backlog and overdue tracking. See what is due, what is overdue and what is waiting, by asset, site or team. - Reporting built in. Maps, dashboards and embedded Power BI reports, built from the same data your crews capture. [See reporting, forecasting and compliance](/reporting). - Works offline. Scanning and forms keep working without a signal and sync when back in coverage, supporting remote operations and industrial areas. ## What EXTAG does not do EXTAG does not do your ERP's finance, procurement or stores functions, and it does not replace your ERP. If you keep an ERP, EXTAG works alongside it and connects to it. EXTAG connects to the systems you already use, pushing and pulling data through their available APIs, and our team configures the integrations so the right data goes to the right place. ## Start small, grow into the system EXTAG is used for everything from a few hundred assets to hundreds of thousands of assets, and you can start from your existing [equipment register](/solutions/equipment-registers). Start with one asset class and the way your people already work. Because forms, tasks and workflows are configured rather than coded, you can add asset classes, work types and reports as you go. Implement in weeks, not months. Looking for a CMMS in Australia? See [CMMS software in Australia](/solutions/cmms-australia): built and supported in Perth, hosted on AWS in Australia. Common applications: Preventive maintenance, Reactive work orders, Contractor assignment, Backlog and overdue tracking, Cost capture ### Facilities, property and fleet URL: https://www.extag.com.au/solutions/facilities-property-fleet.html One register for buildings, facilities, infrastructure, land, leased property, fleet and equipment, with inspections, maintenance and compliance in the same app. Whatever the asset, the method is the same: tag it once, scan it to see its history and the task that applies, and see the result immediately. Only the tag, the form and the report change from one asset class to the next. ## One register for every kind of asset - Buildings. Componentise a building into its plant and services. Tag each component for condition assessment, preventive maintenance and compliance certification, and raise work orders against the building or the component. - Facilities. Rounds, security, safety and cleaning inspections, with fire equipment, access points and plant rooms in the same register. - Infrastructure. Car parks, fencing, pathways and structures roll up to their site. Linear assets show as lines on the map, and remote assets keep their own inspection regime. - Land. Link parcels to boundaries on the map, and track condition, tenure and compliance obligations over time. - Leased property. Track lease obligations, make-good requirements and condition inspections against each lease. - Fleet. Pre-starts, servicing, defect reporting and service history, with fitted equipment as child records. Pool vehicle check-out and check-in by scan captures the driver, odometer, fuel and purpose, and GPS tracking is available where it is fitted. - Plant and equipment. Issue and return, calibration and service compliance, and utilisation reporting to find under-used equipment. ## Contractors and many sites Many sites, many kinds of asset and most of the work done by contractors is where a single register matters most. Contractors scan the same tags, complete the same forms and leave evidence of their work in your register. Staff and contractors can be added without increasing your licence cost. ## Run it alongside your ERP, or as your CMMS EXTAG can connect to your ERP or work as your CMMS for these assets. See [EXTAG as your CMMS](/solutions/cmms) and [EXTAG and your ERP](/erp-gap). Common applications: Buildings and components, Facilities inspections, Infrastructure, Land and leases, Fleet and pool vehicles, Plant and equipment ### NFC asset tracking URL: https://www.extag.com.au/solutions/nfc-asset-tracking.html Tag assets with NFC tags and QR labels, scan with any phone or tablet, and see status, inspections, history and last-scanned location for every asset. No extra hardware, and it works offline. NFC asset tracking with EXTAG starts with a tap. Each asset, piece of equipment or location carries a tag. A standard phone or tablet reads it, opens the right record and the right form, and the scan is stored against the asset's history. There is no extra hardware to buy. Scanning technology is already built into standard phones and tablets, so people use the devices they already carry. ## NFC tags and QR labels - NFC tags are read with a tap. EXTAG's NFC silicone labels are UV protected, with 3M high-tack adhesive, for indoor and outdoor use on metal surfaces. Small (35 × 15 mm) and large (50 × 50 mm) formats suit different assets. [See the tag range](/platform#tags). - QR code labels are weatherproof and suit places where a camera scan works better than a tap. - NFC Scaffold Tags combine an inspection record and a handover certificate in one PVC tag. See [scaffold inspection software](/solutions/scaffold-inspection-software). - GPS tags are the live location option, for high-value equipment that moves. NFC tags and QR labels identify an asset when it is scanned. They do not track location live. ## Proof of presence When someone completes an action or fills out a form on an asset, EXTAG records whether the tag was scanned as part of that process. A scan shows the person was physically at the asset when they did the work, which gives you stronger evidence for compliance and audits. This is the key difference between NFC tags and QR codes. NFC tags are secure and can't be easily copied. A QR code can be photographed and then scanned anywhere, away from the asset. Use NFC where you need to show the work was done at the asset, and QR labels where a camera scan is enough. ## What you can track - Status. Know what is compliant, what is due and what is overdue, with a full history behind every asset. - Last-scanned location. Each scan can update the asset's location from the scanning device's GPS, and static assets can have their location set by dropping a pin on a map. Assets show as colour-coded pins in the status view you choose. - Activity. Record inspections, checks, maintenance and issues from a scan, using smart forms configured to how your people already work. - Reporting. Use maps, dashboards and embedded Microsoft Power BI reports built from the same data your crews capture. [See reporting, forecasting and compliance](/reporting). ## Built for remote and industrial sites Scanning and forms keep working offline and sync when the device is back in coverage. EXTAG runs on Android and iOS phones and tablets, and on laptops and desktops. ## Start with one asset class Tag one asset class, scan it, and see the results within weeks. Implement in weeks, not months, and add asset classes as you go. Every asset record can hold its own template of data, so what you capture is structured from the start. See [asset tagging](/solutions/asset-tagging) for how tags are chosen and applied. Common applications: NFC tags, QR labels, Equipment registers, Inspections, Last-scanned location, Map views ### Asset tagging URL: https://www.extag.com.au/solutions/asset-tagging.html Tag every asset, however minor, with NFC tags or QR labels. Scan with any phone to open the asset's record, record an activity and keep a full history. Good asset tagging gives every asset an identity that survives the field. EXTAG links each tag to a record, so a scan opens the asset, its forms and its history. ## Choose the tag to suit the asset - NFC silicone labels, small and large. UV-protected silicone with 3M high-tack adhesive, for indoor and outdoor use on metal surfaces, from −20 to 120 °C. - QR code labels. Weatherproof, and read by the phone camera. - NFC Scaffold Tags. An inspection record and handover certificate in one PVC tag, with light, medium or heavy duty rating. - GPS tags. Live location tracking for high-value equipment. See the full [tag range](/platform#tags). ## From tag to record 1. **Tag it.** Attach the tag to the asset or location. 2. **Link it.** The tag is linked to the asset's record in your register. Your existing spreadsheet or ERP reference can be kept on the record, and EXTAG helps with the initial data import. 3. **Scan it.** Anyone with the app scans the tag, picks the activity and completes the smart form. 4. **See it.** Status and history update straight away on the map and in reports, and the scan can update the asset's location from the device's GPS. Static assets can also have their location set by dropping a pin on a map. Each action or form records whether the tag was scanned as part of the process, showing the person was physically at the asset. That proof of presence is why NFC suits compliance work: NFC tags are secure and can't be easily copied, while a QR code can be photographed and scanned away from the asset. ## Tag the assets your ERP leaves out ERP and maintenance systems handle core and critical assets. Many other assets are managed on paper or in spreadsheets. EXTAG gives them ERP-level control, and works alongside your ERP. Learn more on [EXTAG and your ERP or CMMS](/erp-gap). ## Works offline, on any phone Scanning and forms keep working without a signal and sync when back in coverage. Contractors scan the same tags and complete the same forms, and are added without increasing your licence cost. Related: [NFC asset tracking](/solutions/nfc-asset-tracking) and [equipment registers](/solutions/equipment-registers). Common applications: NFC tags, QR labels, Scaffold tags, GPS tags, Registers, Compliance ### Scaffold inspection software URL: https://www.extag.com.au/solutions/scaffold-inspection-software.html Record scaffold inspections with a scan of an NFC Scaffold Tag, keep status current automatically, and see every scaffold's status on a map. Scaffold inspections are only useful if everyone can see the current status. EXTAG replaces paper tags and spreadsheets with a scan. ## How it works 1. **Tag the scaffold.** Each scaffold carries an NFC Scaffold Tag, an inspection record and handover certificate in one PVC tag, with light, medium or heavy duty rating. 2. **Inspect with a scan.** The inspector taps the tag with a standard phone or tablet, completes the inspection form and signs off. 3. **Status updates automatically.** Everyone who needs it sees the new status straight away. No manual status updates, and no chasing overdue inspections. 4. **See every scaffold.** Status shows on a map as colour-coded pins, such as planned, erected, tagged out and dismantled, with views for inspection status, workpacks and cyclone risk. ## What it covers Scaffold registers and inspections, handover certificates, erect and dismantle tracking, workpack status, and cyclone preparation planning. Forms are configured to how your site already works, so inspectors follow the checks you require. ## Results from WA resources sites - 256 man-hours a month recovered by a maintenance and scaffolding team: manual status updates and delays from overdue inspections were eliminated. [Read the case study](/results#scaffold-inspections) - About 250 hours of high-risk work avoided in a single cyclone event. A Cyclone Hours report showed preparation would take less than two days, so work was scheduled instead of started immediately. [Read the case study](/results#cyclone-preparedness) ## Remote and industrial sites EXTAG works offline. Scanning and forms keep working without a signal and sync when back in coverage. Contractors scan the same tags and complete the same forms. See also the wider [scaffolding solution](/solutions/scaffolding), [inspections](/solutions/inspections) and [NFC asset tracking](/solutions/nfc-asset-tracking). Common applications: NFC Scaffold Tags, Inspections, Handover certificates, Status map, Cyclone preparation ### CMMS software in Australia URL: https://www.extag.com.au/solutions/cmms-australia.html A CMMS built and supported in Perth, hosted on AWS in Australia, with sovereign hosting available on request. It does not do your ERP's finance, procurement or stores functions. Organisations without a CMMS, or wanting a simpler one, run their maintenance in EXTAG itself. See [EXTAG and your ERP or CMMS](/erp-gap). ## Start small Start with one asset class and the way your people already work, then add asset classes and work types as you go. Implement in weeks, not months. [Book a demo](/contact). Common applications: CMMS, Perth, AWS Australia, ISO/IEC 27001, Onshore support, Works offline ### Lifting register software URL: https://www.extag.com.au/solutions/lifting-register-software.html Keep a live lifting equipment register. Tag each sling, shackle, chain block and hoist, inspect it with a scan, store its certificates and know what is due, overdue or checked out. A lifting register is only useful if it is current. Paper tags, colour codes and spreadsheets fall behind as soon as gear moves between crews and sites. EXTAG keeps the register up to date with every scan. ## How it works 1. **Tag each item.** Slings, shackles, chain blocks, hoists, spreader bars and other lifting gear each get an NFC, QR or barcode tag. 2. **Inspect with a scan.** The inspector scans the tag with a phone or tablet, works through the inspection checklist and signs off. The result is recorded against that item. 3. **Status updates for everyone.** The register shows what is in service, due soon or overdue, without anyone retyping results. 4. **Follow up automatically.** Reminders go out before inspections fall due, and Actions assign the follow-up when an item fails or goes overdue. ## What it covers - Lifting equipment register: every item with its ID, type, location, inspection history and status. - Lifting gear inspections: checklists configured to how your site works and the standards your inspectors work to, such as AS 2550 and AS 4991. - Certificates and manuals: attach manufacturer certificates and manuals, and generate certificates from completed inspections. - Check-out and check-in: know who has each item, with due-back dates and overdue alerts. - Incident logging: record damage or incidents against the item so the history stays with it. - Servicing triggers: hour meter readings can trigger servicing for powered lifting equipment. - Reporting: embedded Power BI reports show what is due, overdue and failed across sites. ## One platform, tailored to lifting Lifting is one tailored implementation on the EXTAG platform, with its own access, team and reporting. If you also manage scaffolding, inspections or test and tag, those run on the same platform, so IT approves it once. Sign in with SSO, and add as many users and items as you need (unlimited, subject to fair use). Built in Perth and available worldwide. Most teams are up and running in weeks, not months, and sovereign hosting is available on request. Scan the tag, record the test, set the next due date and get reminders before anything falls overdue. Test and tag is simple until you have hundreds or thousands of items across sites and a spreadsheet that is never quite up to date. EXTAG turns the register into something that updates with every scan. ## How it works 1. **Tag each item.** Leads, power boards, tools and other portable equipment each get an NFC, QR or barcode tag alongside the test tag. 2. **Test and record with a scan.** The tester scans the item, completes the checklist and records pass or fail. Failed or expired items can be flagged immediately. 3. **Next due date set for you.** EXTAG sets the next test date from the item's cycle and sends reminders before it falls due. 4. **Follow up failures.** Actions assign repairs or replacement to the right person, and incidents can be logged against the item. ## What it covers - Test and tag register: every item with its ID, location, test history, result and next due date. - Test cycles and reminders: set cycles by item or group, with reminders before anything falls overdue. - Checklists: configured to how your site works and the standard your testers work to, such as AS/NZS 3760. - Certificates and manuals: attach documents to each item and generate certificates from completed tests. - Check-out and check-in: track loan equipment with due-back dates and overdue alerts. - Reporting: embedded Power BI reports by site, area, result and due date. ## For in-house teams and contractors Run test and tag with your own team, or give contractors access to scan the same tags and complete the same checklists. Everyone works from one register, and you keep the history. ## One platform, tailored to test and tag Test and tag is one tailored implementation on the EXTAG platform, with its own access, team and reporting. A: EXTAG® is a software platform designed for asset-intensive organisations to ensure all assets, no matter how minor, are compliant, safe, and ready for use. It is built and supported by EXTAG Pty Ltd in Perth, Western Australia. Q: What is the asset management gap? A: ERP and maintenance systems handle core and critical assets, but many other assets and supporting equipment are excluded and are often managed manually with paper or spreadsheets. That gap, lower-value, high-quantity assets below the "ERP exclusion line", is what EXTAG is built to close. Q: Does EXTAG replace my ERP? A: No. EXTAG works alongside your ERP and connects to it. EXTAG does not do your ERP's finance, procurement or stores functions. For maintenance management it can also serve as your CMMS if you would prefer one system. Q: Can EXTAG be used as a CMMS? A: It can. EXTAG runs planned and preventive maintenance, reactive work orders, assignment to your own people or contractors, scheduling, cost capture, backlog and overdue tracking, closure evidence and reporting. Many organisations use it alongside their ERP for the assets the ERP does not cover, and others use it as their CMMS. Either way, EXTAG can connect to your other systems. Q: We already have an ERP. Why would we need EXTAG? A: ERPs are built for core and critical assets, and they are expensive and slow to change. EXTAG gives the rest of your equipment ERP-level control, and connects back to the ERP. Q: Can contractors use EXTAG? A: Yes. Contractors scan the same tags, complete the same forms and leave evidence of their work in your register. Staff and contractors can be added without increasing your licence cost. Q: Should we use QR codes or NFC tags? A: Both work with EXTAG, and both identify an asset when scanned. The key difference is proof of presence. When someone completes an action or form on an asset, EXTAG records whether the tag was scanned as part of the process, showing the person was physically at the asset. NFC tags are secure and can't be easily copied, while a QR code can be photographed and scanned anywhere, away from the asset. Choose NFC where compliance and audits need evidence the work was done at the asset, and QR labels where a camera scan is enough. Neither tracks location live; GPS tags are the live location option. Q: What is asset register software? A: Asset register software keeps a single, current record of every asset you own or manage, with its identifier, location, status, inspections and history, instead of spreadsheets. EXTAG's asset register software links each record to an NFC tag or QR label, so a scan with any phone opens the record and keeps it up to date. It is built in Perth and used across Australia and internationally. Q: Can we export our data? A: Yes, you can export your data at any time, for example to Excel or CSV. Your data is yours. If you leave, we return your data and securely erase ours. Tags and labels you have bought remain yours. Q: How is EXTAG supported? A: EXTAG is built and supported by a Perth-based team. We configure your forms, workflows and reports, support your people, test and release platform updates and security patches, and make changes for you, so you do not need a specialist admin team. Minor changes are often made within 24 hours, and larger ones in one to three weeks. Q: How do you move our data into EXTAG? A: Hand over your registers, spreadsheets and system extracts as they are. We profile, cleanse and reconcile the data, load it, and keep your original identifiers on each record so records stay matched. Asset details are verified in the field as tags are attached. Q: What training do people need? A: Most users learn from the person next to them. Administrators, editors and readers, and read-only users get short walkthroughs, recorded guides and quick-reference sheets, and people who only need to report a problem just scan a tag. Q: Can EXTAG report on lifecycle, valuation and utilisation? A: Yes. It all depends on the data captured, and because we use Power BI we can create any report you need. Q: Which industries use EXTAG? A: EXTAG has been in daily use since 2018, primarily in the resources sector. It is used across process, mining, renewables, oil and gas, power, agriculture and health, with published results from oil and power producers and WA resources sites. Q: How many assets can EXTAG handle? A: EXTAG is used for everything from a few hundred assets to hundreds of thousands of assets, with the same app at every size. It suits single sites as well as large-scale asset management and high-volume asset registers, and you can start with one asset class and grow. Q: Do we need separate apps for scaffolding, lifting and rigging, and fire compliance? A: No. EXTAG is one platform with a separate, tailored implementation for each area, such as scaffolding, lifting and rigging, fire equipment, inspections and preservation. Each implementation can have its own access, its own team, its own forms and workflows and its own reporting. Your IT team approves EXTAG once, so you can expand to new areas without approving another app. Q: How does EXTAG work in the field? A: Attach EXTAG tags to your assets, scan the tag with a standard phone or tablet to access information and complete tasks, then instantly visualise your data. Just scan the tag and select your activity. Q: Does EXTAG work without mobile coverage? A: It does. EXTAG works offline, supporting remote operations and industrial areas. Scanning and forms keep working without a signal, and the data syncs when you are back in coverage. Q: Do I need special hardware to scan EXTAG tags? A: No. Scanning technology is already built into standard phones and tablets, so you don't need any extra hardware to use EXTAG NFC tags or QR labels. Q: What types of tags does EXTAG use? A: EXTAG uses NFC and QR tags for asset identification and data collection, including NFC silicone labels (35 × 15 mm and 50 × 50 mm), tie-on and cable-tie tags, location tags, NFC Scaffold Tags and weatherproof QR labels, plus GPS tags with cellular connectivity for live location tracking of high-value assets. NFC and QR tags do not track location live: each scan can update an asset's location from the scanning device's GPS, and static assets can have their location set by dropping a pin on a map. Q: Can EXTAG forms be customised? A: They do. EXTAG smart forms support buttons, sliders, selectors and tabs, dynamic colour, conditional logic, embedded images, live calculations and complete version control. Forms are also used to define assets, equipment and locations and all their related activities and tasks. Q: What reporting does EXTAG provide? A: EXTAG shows status as colour-coded pins on a map and traffic-light views, and uses Microsoft Power BI to build any view you need, for your own team or your customers. Q: Can EXTAG integrate with our ERP, CMMS or other systems? A: Yes, integrations are possible. EXTAG connects to the systems you already use, pushing and pulling data through their available APIs, and our team configures the integrations so the right data goes to the right place. Each asset record can hold the identifiers used in other systems, such as the ERP asset number, so records stay matched. EXTAG works closely with you to determine what data needs to go where, and makes it happen. Q: How does EXTAG help with AI? A: AI is only as smart as your data. EXTAG captures clean, structured, context-rich data at the point of activity (linked to the tagged asset, location and task) and connects it to your systems by pushing and pulling data through their available APIs. Q: What devices does EXTAG run on? A: EXTAG runs on Android and iOS phones and tablets, as a native app or in a web browser, and on laptops and desktops. Field capture, reporting and mapping are in one app. Q: What happens to old inspections when a form changes? A: Nothing. They keep their original answers. EXTAG is configured, not coded. Every record keeps a reference to the template version it was created with, so a form can change without a software release or data migration. Q: How quickly can EXTAG be set up? A: EXTAG starts with one asset class. Implement in weeks, not months. A working solution is in front of real users within weeks, and one asset class proves the model. Ideas for improvement can then be implemented quickly, within days, not months. Q: Who configures EXTAG? A: The EXTAG team. EXTAG is full-service, not self-service. We administer the platform and make configuration changes for you, so you don't need a specialist admin team of your own. Q: Is EXTAG licensed per user? A: No. EXTAG is licensed per solution with unlimited users, so you can add staff and contractors without increasing your licence cost. Q: Do field crews need training? A: EXTAG is designed to be easy to use with no training required. Crews tap or scan a tag to access the right form. Q: What return on investment have customers seen? A: Customers have reported savings of 40x for preservation and GPS tracking, 5x for a power producer and 6x for an oil producer. Case studies from WA resources sites include 250 hours of high-risk work avoided in a single cyclone event, 256 man-hours a month recovered on scaffold inspections, and 42% faster quality control on valve work. Q: Where is EXTAG data hosted and how is it secured? A: EXTAG is hosted on AWS in Australia, and customer data is stored and processed in Australia. Sovereign hosting is available on request. EXTAG is ISO/IEC 27001 certified, with encryption in transit and at rest, role-based access, single sign-on (SSO) and multi-factor authentication. Contact us for our security documentation. Q: How do I get a demo? A: Contact EXTAG on 1300 813 336 or info@extag.com.au, or use the contact form to set up a live demo. ## Thought leadership (summaries) - AI is Only as Smart as Your Data (https://www.extag.com.au/news/ai-is-only-as-smart-as-your-data.html): EXTAG’s Lan Tran told the 2025 WIMWA Summit that mining must get its data quality and readiness right first: “You can’t buy your way into AI.” - Digital Transformation: Why Most Fail and How to Beat the Odds (https://www.extag.com.au/news/digital-transformation-why-most-fail-and-how-to-beat-the-odds.html): Most digital transformations fail.
